Submission to UK Parliament: Abolish “reasonable punishment” defence

A submission to the House of Commons’ Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill Committee is now available online. Felicity has contributed to the submission of evidence, alongside a group of other academic researchers, which supports the abolition of the defence of reasonable punishment of children. It is written in support of proposed amendments to the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill tabled in UK Parliament which would have the effect of abolishing the English common law defence.

The submission is available to read here.
