Surprising stuff at the IARS Victim conference this week as a Government Minister appeared to suggest that the EU Directive required new domestic law and would need further consultation before implementation on the meaning of “victim”. To see tweets go to #IARS2014.

To read Felicity’s paper on vulnerable witnesses click here. Of note is that the EU Directive has a wide definition of victim which can include prisoners and families. It has direct effect and is due to be implemented by November 2015. Clearly a potential vote winner for any prospective Government to sensibly implement restorative justice & victim centred procedures. Congratulations to IARS for a great conference – visit IARS website.
