@HollyCullenfreo Wasn’t mandatory – judge said “obliged” to follow guidelines and precedent. Last time I was able to persuade the judge to non conviction outcome in Aus she read the research !!! E & W is brutal and backward IMO. Hopefully Court of Appeal will give some modern guidance. At the… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

In Victoria, Australia we have the possibility of a community penalty with a non conviction outcome – it’s in the sentencing act and comes by judicial discretion – perfect for this type of situation. @ShonaMinson @LucyBaldwin08 twitter.com/shonaminson/st…
