At the 31st Annual ANZSIL Conference, Felicity chaired a conversational panel on practicing international law in Australia and New Zealand. The panel featured Lucy Martinez (Martinez Arbitration) Christopher Griggs (Barristers.Comm) and Kerin Leonard (Lionheart Consulting).
The 2024 conference was themed “Crisis, Conflict and Cooperation” and used Judge Hilary Charlesworth’s words (from her 2002 article ‘International Law: A Discipline of Crisis’) as a leaping-off point to discuss the role of international law in dealing with crises in the international community today.
‘International lawyers revel in a good crisis. A crisis provides a focus for the development of the discipline and it also allows international lawyers the sense that their work is of immediate, intense relevance.’
