She said:
“Clear information is not currently publicly or privately available for prisoners and their families, independent monitoring does not occur in accordance with international standards and public health measures in prisons and YDC are woeful. The letter with the annexure is designed to assist decision makers by providing some international guidance. I think this is a real opportunity for criminal justice and penal policy to provide a humanitarian response to this current emergency and to improve more generally.”
