Felicity Gerry KC led Jade Gambrill, instructed by Jo Chart (Sperrin Law) to deliver an application for a writ of habeas corpus to the High Court of Justice (London) on 1 February 2024. Concerning the “accidental verdict” murder trial the application contended that her client, Matthew Yusuff, was being held unlawfully in prison.
Speaking to the Standard, Felicity said ‘the point to question “any slip” by the jury was when they were in court giving their initial verdicts. “The verdicts should not have been re-opened in any way,” she said, adding that enquiries could not be made into the jury’s deliberations.’
Judgment was reserved.
